I love lights, and find myself being inspired by them on a regular basis. The use of lighting effects, especially ‘bokeh’, in both print and web design is an ever-growing trend that none of us can see going anywhere any time soon. Staying focused on your work has always been difficult, especially when you’re working from home. In the past, distractions have tended to come from outside the office, bedroom or wherever it is that you work in the form of screaming kids, noisy neighbours or the sudden urge to start vacuuming the house for no apparent reason. These days, the biggest distractions of all stare you right in the face. They’re “inside” the computer that you sit in front of for hours each day.

This is a tricky one! Mac OS X Snow Leopard is an extremely powerful system – but everybody always finds a minor fault or something that they’d simply like to see improved. For me, I’d like to see a menu for easy customization of the built-in screen capture (screen shot) tool, such as being able to choose default names, background colors, whether the captured image should have a shadow and so on. It is all possible to do but only via lines of (complicated) code that I don’t understand pasted into the Terminal window!
In the modern world company start-ups are increasing by the thousands every year – this means more names, more logos, and less unique ideas. However, with the digital design technology growing faster than ever, we have the opportunity to explore new areas, learn new tools and ultimately have new ideas which we know are actually possible within a reasonable amount of time (and cost for the client).
The use of animals in modern corporate image design is increasing, and surely this can only be a good thing, especially if the designs are all as good as the 78 brilliant and excellently composed animal logos showcased in this article.
