Debate #4 – You Have $1,000 To Spend On Design Gear, What Would You Buy?

This week we have an interesting debate question. Basically, imagine you have $1,000 to spend on anything you want, but it must be design-related! It could be a new Mac, software, applications, subscriptions to design sites or magazines, or even stationery. Go go go!

You Have $1,000 To Spend On Design Gear, What Would You Buy?

I personally would purchase a second-hand Black MacBook simply for Internet Browsing and catching up on stuff when I’m away from home. I’d also invest in some new pens as I’m lacking in the stationery department, and maybe a new iPhone case (iPhone stuff can count if you use it a lot for design-related stuff!). So what would you buy?

I would most definately buy me a new wacom tablet and some gear for my iMac. On the other hand: Probably I would spent some money on books too… I’m a sucker for designmags and designbooks….

Ideally I would finish my home office room if that counts for designer gear :) Otherwise a new PC (just to have another powerful thing except notebook for work) and a new Dell UltraSharp would fit the budget perfectly.
    P.S. Who is a sponsor? :)

    Can I switch it for £1000? :)

I bought a new laptop a few months a go so that’s ok.

Sooo a new desk (one of those nice curved corner jobbies). An Aeron chair and a decent desk lamp, some paint for the home office walls and stock up on a few moleskines. If there was some money left over a second Samsung monitor too.

I’d probably buy a tablet. Never used one, always just been the mouse, curious to try one out though! :)

I’d put it all towards a Wacom tablet and then pay the difference for the one that has the screen built-in. The medium model. Then, I would spend the next 2 or 3 months complaining to my friends about how I spent too much money (the difference) and how it ran me nearly homeless.

…in a desperate effort to acquire free beer. : )

Lots of Macs! Haha, I would have to buy some pens too ;) I had about 50 four months ago but now I have 2; a red one and a green one. I don’t even remember them being included in the original 50!

    Difficult question to answer.

But at the moment I’m saving up to upgrade my computer – currently a little bit out of date and runs Photoshop/Illustrator a bit slow (especially when running them at the same time).

So I guess I would put it towards a new computer – although it would actually pay for the entire thing if I bought all the parts separately and put it together myself.

I would definitely pick up a new camera and since I’ve always wanted one, I’d pick up a Wacom tablet. If there is anything left I would grab some stationary and office supplies.

That’s the first camera! I was actually expecting a few people to say cameras but maybe not :)

I’d preorder the fabled iSlate (or whatever it’s going to be called) and possibly a Wacom tablet if there’s enough left over. Let’s call it a tactile themed purchase.

i would buy alot of books to get some inspirations and more knowledge right out of my hands. i also thought a long time ago to have a closer look to lynda.com tutorials. to subscribe for a year and learn and understand a little better.
also updating my blog a little more. sure there is no money needed, but inspiration – alot!
as the most here i also tend to update my hardware but only with an imac27″
the macbook would be an alternative by the end of the year, since i found out a bout the use of it as a tablet, exciting
if i dont win some business card, i also would go for some new ones
