The A-Z List of Free Sans Serif Fonts for Commercial Design

Sponsors (Advertise on Circlebox Blog)

There are a few things I’ve been meaning to do over the last couple of months since purchasing my iMac: Find, Download and Install Sans Serif, Serif and Calligraphy fonts, and make a decent post or two for Circlebox whilst searching. I’ve finally got around to collecting some Sans Serif fonts, so here are just some of the fonts I installed in a nice ‘A-Z List’. If this post does well, I’d like to make an A-Z list for Serif and Calligraphic fonts, too – so let me know if you like it in the comments section at the bottom of this post!

Excellent idea for an article, now are you thinking about doing another with serif after?

Thanks guys, I’ll be doing a Serif post, and possibly a Calligraphy/Hand-Written post, too. There are quite a few different fonts out there so I’ll experiment and try to make a little series out of it :)

I thought “Vera Humana” looked awfully nice … and somewhat familiar. Downloaded it and took a closer look and quickly realized it is a knock-off of Hermann Zapf’s “Optima”, one of my favorite type designs. It’s a shame there isn’t more integrity in the type design world. It’s just not cool to steal a type designer’s work and then claim it as your own … especially that of a living type designer. Type revivals are one thing; rip-offs are another.

Sorry, but it’s quite useless if you post fonts that are “free for personal use”…

@Liz Pike & C.G: You’re right, some of them are for ‘personal use’ but, if you read the T&C’s carefully, should be available for commercial use if you ASK the author politely and credit them – it doesn’t take much to put ‘A huge thanks to Joe Blog for allowing me to use his great font LINK!’ in your portfolio. :)

Callum, can’t emphasise the point you make in reply to a couple of comments, we should ALWAYS read and respect the Terms & Conditions for fonts, graphics etc.
Sometimes, the cost to use something we think would fit really well may be pennies or a credit line. What’s hard about that?
We’d want that (or more) if it was our work.
